The international community has aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development — a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 goals identify shared societal, economic and environmental aspirations for all countries to meet. They promote a journey towards a future that is free of poverty and hunger, one that adapts to the impacts of climate change and to the increasing human demand for natural resources. The SDGs serve as a call for governments, institutions and the general public to rally behind measurable goals, targets and indicators,
and to take up actions, singly and collectively, that will enable the world to reach this shared and prosperous future.
