Suicide is a relevant public health problem and strategies to address it have yet to show clear results. Objectives: The objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of suicide death rates and correlate the evolution of suicide risk with CAPS (Psychosocial Care Center) coverage rates in the macroregions of the state of Santa Catarina from 2007 to 2016 Method: An ecological, descriptive and analytical observational study with analysis of suicide deaths in the resident population of Santa Catarina, aged 15 years and older. Results: Suicide rates showed a increase trend, with 9.89 cases / 100,000 inhabitants. in 2007, and 12.08 cases / 100,000 inhabitants. in 2016. - an increase of + 2.3% per year in the period studied. In the same period, coverage rates of CAPS / 100,000 inhab. increased from 1.16 to 1.92, with an annual growth rate of + 5.9%. (Sp = 0.491, Beta = 0.337, p <0.005). The increase in suicide rates in the population of Santa Catarina by macroregion was accompanied by a proportional increase in CAPS coverage rates.
