Too global to fail

This volume is about environment-related and other global public goods in the context of the global development process, and about the role of international organizations, particularly the World Bank, in supplying such goods. At the present time, and for the foreseeable future, there is a distinction between developing and developed countries. We work in development and our concern is the sustainability, in the long term, of development. It is our belief that global sustainability depends crucially upon the provision of certain global public goods, and that the prevailing approach to development and development assistance does not sufficiently recognize this fact.
